“Education Under Fire” Petition, Georgia Southern University, February 7, 2012

On February 7, 2012, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, the Bahá’ís of Statesboro collaborated with the students of Amnesty International at Georgia Southern University (GSU) to promote the “Education Under Fire” (EUF) campaign. Please click below for more information and photos.

During the Global Engagement Fair at GSU, over 100 students came to our display table and inquired about the EUF campaign. Approximately 75 students signed the EUF petition and learned about the follow-up showing of the EUF documentary and panel discussion on April 26 at GSU. See information about this upcoming event at: http://www.statesborobahais.org/2012/02/education_under_fire_april_26t.html

The EUF campaign calls on people around the world—especially university students, professors, and staff—to endorse the right of all minorities—including the Bahá’ís (the largest religious minority in Iran)—to a higher education in Iran. Nobel Laureates Archbishop Desmond Tutu and President José Ramos-Horta have endorsed the EUF campaign at universities across the United States: See their letter of endorsement and the EUF petition at: http://educationunderfire.com/nobel-laureates-letter/
