On September 27, 2014, Bahá’ís of Statesboro and their friends, gathered at Dan and Maria Fatima Rea’s home for the monthly Interfaith Devotional & Potluck Dinner. Please click below for a description and photos of the event.
Twenty-three people of diverse nationalities (China, Nigeria, Brazil, Peru, Trinidad, and USA) shared prayers and reflective readings on unity and peace from the holy scriptures of several world religions: Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Islam, and the Bahá’í Faith. Bahá’u’lláh, prophet founder of the Bahá’í Faith, encourages us to “consort with the followers of all religions in a spirit of friendliness and fellowship” and to understand that “Truth is one in all religions.”
Special thanks to those who shared their artistic talents during the social part of the meeting: Joe Goldstein and Mike Czech for singing rousing 80’s hits and original compositions; the Chinese singers for singing the traditional Chinese Jasmine song, Daronte and Desiree for leading us in call and response Baha’i songs, and Merritt for playing an original guitar composition. Also special thanks to Wendy (Li Wen) for sharing her photos of the event. This spiritual meeting was a nourishing unity feast of inspirational prayers & reflective readings, tasty food & drinks, beautiful songs & music, and warm camaraderie & laughter. People of all religions and cultures are welcome at these devotional celebrations of “unity in diversity.”
