Interfaith Devotional at Rea’s Home, May 31, 2014

On May 31, 2014, Bahá’ís of Statesboro and their friends gathered at Dan and Maria Fatima Rea’s home for the monthly Interfaith Devotional & Potluck Dinner. Please click below for a description and photos of the event.

Fourteen people of diverse nationalities (China, Nigeria, Brazil, Mexico, Iran, India, and USA) shared prayers and reflective readings on unity and peace from the holy scriptures of several world religions: Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Islam, and the Bahá’í Faith. Bahá’u’lláh, prophet founder of the Bahá’í Faith, encourages us to “consort with the followers of all religions in a spirit of friendliness and fellowship” and to understand that “Truth is one in all religions.” During the social part of the meeting, we ate a “Happy Graduation” ice cream cake and sung the “I Think You Are Wonderful” song in honor of the international students who recently graduated and those who are leaving Statesboro in the near future. Special thanks to those who shared their artistic talents: Joe Goldstein for singing unity songs; Mike Czech for singing rousing 80’s hits; and the Mrs. Li and Pei Pei for singing the traditional Chinese Jasmine song. People of all religions and cultures are welcome at these devotional celebrations of “unity in diversity.”
