Interfaith Devotional, Rea’s Home, September 28, 2013

On September 28, 2013, Bahá’ís of Statesboro and their friends gathered at Dan and Maria Fatima Rea’s home for the monthly Interfaith Devotional & Potluck Dinner. Please click below for a description and photos of the event.

Twenty-seven people of diverse nationalities (China, Nigeria, Peru, Brazil, Mexico, Columbia, India, and USA) shared prayers and reflective readings on unity, peace, and healing from the holy scriptures of several world religions: Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Islam, and the Bahá’í Faith. Bahá’u’lláh, prophet founder of the Bahá’í Faith, encourages us to “consort with the followers of all religions in a spirit of friendliness and fellowship” and to understand that “Truth is one in all religions.” Special thanks to those who shared their artistic talents during the social part of the meeting: Joe Goldstein for singing unity songs; Mike Czech for singing popular 80s songs, Merritt Skidmore-Hess for playing keyboard hits, Jose Rivera for playing the guitar, and the Wang Xi and the Chinese students for singing the traditional Chinese Jasmine song. This spiritual meeting was a nourishing unity feast of inspirational prayers & reflective readings, tasty food & drinks, beautiful songs & music, and warm camaraderie & laughter. Also, a special congratulation is extended to Pei-Ling Tseng for passing her driver’s license test. Now, she will be able to drive herself and other students to Bahá’í meetings. People of all religions and cultures are welcome at these devotional celebrations of “unity in diversity.”
