Winter Holiday Cultural Celebration at GSU on November 29, 2012

The Winter Holiday Cultural Celebration sponsored by the University Multicultural Student Center took place on November 29, 2012 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm in the Russell Union at Georgia Southern University. Please click below for additional information and photos of the event.

Various religious and cultural groups exhibited information about their winter holidays and beliefs. The Bahá'í winter holiday of Ayyam-i-Ha is a three-day period, February 26 to March 1, of gift giving and charitable acts, which precedes the Bahá'í 19-day fast. Joe Goldstein and Dan Rea had an opportunity to talk with many students, 32 of whom signed our guest list and showed interest in learning more about the Bahá'í Faith’s message of unity. We gave away several “Who are Bahá'í” pamphlets, “elimination of prejudice” & “religious unity” buttons, and organic fruit lollipops. We encourage all students to keep an open mind and a pure heart and to investigate the truth for themselves wherever they may find it. “O My brother! When a true seeker determineth to take the step of search in the path leading unto the knowledge of the Ancient of Days, he must, before all else, cleanse his heart, which is the seat of the revelation of the inner mysteries of God, from the obscuring dust of all acquired knowledge…” (Bahá’u’lláh).
