Interfaith Devotional, Rea’s Home, August 25, 2012

On August 25, 2012, Bahá’ís of Statesboro and their friends gathered at Dan and Maria Fatima’s home for the monthly Interfaith Devotional. Please click below for a description and photos of the event.

Forty people of diverse nationalities (China, India, Peru, Mexico, Brazil, Trinidad & Tobago, and USA) shared prayers and reflective readings on unity, peace, and healing from the holy scriptures of several world religions: Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Islam, and Bahá’í Faith. Bahá’u’lláh, prophet founder of the Bahá’í Faith, encourages us to “consort with the followers of all religions in a spirit of friendliness and fellowship” and to understand “Truth is one in all religions.” Special thanks to those who shared their artistic talents during the social part of the meeting: Joe Goldstein for playing guitar & singing unity songs; Rosemarie Stallworth-Clark for playing the autoharp & singing peace songs; Rui Zhang for playing guitar and singing love songs; Mike Czech for playing guitar & singing popular 80s songs; Geyi Zhang for playing the violin and also singing Chinese songs; Parama Chattopadhyay for playing the violin and also singing both sacred Indian and popular American songs; Qianting Yao for playing classical music on the keyboard; Merritt Skidmore-Hess for playing popular music on the keyboard; Jack Kindig for playing bongos; Jinxi Chen for playing guitar and singing popular Chinese songs; and Scott Beck & Alma Stevenson for singing a popular Spanish song. This spiritual meeting was a nourishing unity feast of inspiring prayers & reflective readings, tasty food & drinks, beautiful songs, music, and warm camaraderie & laughter. People of all religions and cultures are welcome at these devotional celebrations.
