On January 21, 2012, Bahá’ís of Statesboro and friends gathered at Dan and Maria Fatima’s home for the monthly Interfaith Devotion. Please click below for a description and photos of the event.
Twenty-one people of diverse nationalities (Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Mexico, Peru, Russia, & USA) shared prayers and reflective readings on unity, peace, and healing from the holy scriptures of several world religions: Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and Bahá’í Faith. Bahá’u’lláh, prophet founder of the Bahá’í Faith, encourages us to “consort with the followers of all religions in a spirit of friendliness and fellowship” and to understand “Truth is one in all religions.” Special thanks to those who shared their artistic talents during the social part of the meeting: Rosemarie Stallworth-Clark for singing; Merritt Skidmore-Hess for playing keyboard; Joe Goldstein for singing & playing guitar; Tao Yang for singing Chinese & USA songs & playing guitar; Efadul Huq for reading poetry; and Xavier Best for reciting rap. This spiritual meeting was a nourishing unity feast of inspiring prayers & reflective readings, tasty food & drinks, beautiful songs, music, poetry, and rap, and warm camaraderie & laughter. We welcome people of all religions and cultures to these meetings.
