On November 12, 2010, the Bahá'ís of Statesboro and their guests celebrated the "Birth of Bahá'u'lláh" Holy Day at the Fordham Farmhouse Restaurant. Please click below for more information on the event and photos of the celebration.
Bahá'u'lláh, the founder of the Bahá’í Faith, teaches us to celebrate the fundamental spiritual unity in the cultural diversity of humanity: “Ye are the fruits of one tree, and the leaves of one branch.” This celebration brought together 40 attendees representing 10 nationalities including Azerbaijan, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Morocco, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, Russia, and the United States. We extend special thanks to our featured singers, Chris Purser and Reverend Jane Page, and accomplished keyboard musician, Dr. Michael Braz, who led us in several inspiring sing-along songs and music. We also extend thanks to Nancy Hutcheon, Ana Goldstein, Glory Goldstein, Emily Gung, and Lilly Li Gu who demonstrated “unity in diversity” by singing the Children’s Brilliant Star Prayer in three different languages (English, Spanish, and Chinese) and the nine Chinese singers who sung the Chinese Jasmine song with beautiful harmony. The celebration also included Dan Rea as MC, José Jiménez and Audrey Yue Xu preparing and showing short videos, Qianting Yao and Snow Xue Yang taking photos, Jing Sun and Shu Dong greeting guests, and Jay Zhu, James, and several others helping with the setup and cleanup, and finally Nancy Hutcheon sharing red roses as a token of Bahá'u'lláh's love for humanity. This celebration would not have been possible without the invaluable assistance of all our wonderful friends—thank you!
