On March 21, 2010, the Bahais of Statesboro and their guests celebrated Naw Ruz, the Bahai New Year, at Ryan's Restaurant. Please click below for photos of the event.
There were 48 adults and 8 children representing diverse cultural backgrounds including Mexican, Peruvian, Brazilian, Chinese, Turkey, Uzbekistan, African, African American, and European American. We extend special thanks to our singers and musicians who led and entertained us with inspirational songs: Rosemarie Stallworth-Clark & Joe Goldstein, and Rosa San Juan, Laura Gonzales, Hilda Gonzales, & Maria Rea, and the supportive friends singing in the audience. We also give special thanks to Audrey Yue Xu for arranging the room and showing us two beautiful videos. As Nancy Hutcheon explained at the beginning of the meeting, the Naw Ruz festival is a joyous time of celebration and hospitality for Bahais around the world. Coinciding with the first day of spring, it signifies spiritual renewal: "O friends! It behoveth you to refresh and revive your souls through the gracious favors which in this Divine, this soul-stirring Springtime are being showered upon you."
